Inside the 2026 World Cup: Who's watching and who's winning off the pitch?

Wed, Jun 03, 2026 5:00PM BST, 9:00AM PDT

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup due to take place in the USA, Canada and Mexico over June and July, global attention is once again zeroed in on the biggest stage in football. The tournament, taking place for the first time in its expanded 48 team format, is set to generate almost $9 billion of FIFA's target $13 billion in revenue for the 2023-2026 cycle.

Using data from Ampere's Sports Media Rights, Sponsorship and Consumer products, this webinar will take a forensic look at FIFA's TV broadcasting and marketing revenue. Against a backdrop of constantly evolving media consumption habits, we'll unpack how FIFA, broadcasters and brands have adapted their strategy around the World Cup to reflect these shifts and to attempt to grow the competition's reach.

In this webinar, Danni Moore and Chloe NG-Triquet will address the following key questions:

  • Is the FIFA World Cup still the most popular competition in the world?
  • What is the impact of hosting the competition in North America and expanding it to 48 teams?
  • How has FIFA's sponsorship strategy changed since 2022?
  • How do the tournament's broadcasting revenues break down by region?
  • How have FIFA, broadcasters and brands adapted their World Cup strategy to respond to changing media consumption trends?

The presentation will last approximately 25 minutes, and there will be a short Q&A at the end.
